Dashboard Mode - Tableau installation and activation

Goal

Understand how to install Tableau Desktop and activate it to start creating dashboards.

• KPI Card: Total Sales
  Formula: SUM([Sales])
  Result: 1650
• Bar Chart: Sales by Region
  Formula: SUM([Sales]) grouped by [Region]
  Results: East=750, West=600, South=300
• Pie Chart: Sales by Category
  Formula: SUM([Sales]) grouped by [Category]
  Results: Furniture=400, Technology=950, Office Supplies=300
• Table: Detailed Orders
  Shows all columns from sample data

Interactivity

Adding a filter for Region updates the Bar Chart, Pie Chart, and Detailed Orders table to show data only for the selected region. The Total Sales KPI also updates to reflect the filtered sales total.

Self Check

If you add a filter for Category = Technology, which components update and what changes occur?

• Total Sales KPI: Updates to show total sales for Technology category (950).
• Sales by Region Bar Chart: Updates to show sales only for Technology category by region (East=750, West=450, South=0).
• Sales by Category Pie Chart: Updates to show only Technology slice (100%).
• Detailed Orders Table: Shows only orders where Category is Technology.
