Choose your learning style9 modes available
Introduction
Sharing your Tableau dashboards and reports helps everyone in your organization see the same data story. This makes it easier for teams to work together and make decisions based on the same facts.
When you want your sales team to see the latest sales dashboard without sending files by email
When managers across departments need to access the same performance reports anytime
When you want to avoid confusion caused by multiple versions of the same report
When you want to encourage data-driven decisions by making insights easily available
When you want to track who views or interacts with your dashboards
Steps
Step 1: Click
- Share button on the top right of your published Tableau dashboard
A sharing dialog box opens with options to share the dashboard link or embed code
💡 Use the 'Copy Link' option to quickly share the dashboard URL via email or chat
Step 2: Select
- Permissions tab in the sharing dialog
You see a list of users or groups who can access the dashboard
💡 Set permissions carefully to control who can view or edit the dashboard
Step 3: Add
- Users or groups field in the Permissions tab
Selected users or groups gain access to the dashboard
💡 Use groups to share with many people at once instead of adding users one by one
Step 4: Click
- Send button in the sharing dialog
An email with the dashboard link is sent to the selected users
💡 Include a short message explaining the dashboard purpose for better adoption
Step 5: Publish
- Tableau Server or Tableau Online
Dashboard is available on the web for authorized users to access anytime
💡 Encourage users to bookmark the dashboard for easy future access
