Adding backgrounds and images to your Power BI report pages helps make your reports more visually appealing and easier to understand. This feature lets you set a picture or color behind your data visuals to create a professional look or highlight important information.
When you want to add a company logo or branding to every page of your report.
When you need a subtle background color or pattern to improve readability of charts.
When you want to use an image as a watermark behind your data visuals.

Steps
Step 1: Select the report page
- Pages pane on the left side
The chosen report page is active and visible in the main canvas
Step 2: Click the Format pane icon
- Visualizations pane on the right side
The Format options for the report page appear
Step 3: Expand the Page background section
- Format pane
Background settings such as color, transparency, and image options become visible
Step 4: Click Add image
- Page background section
A file dialog opens to select an image from your computer
Step 5: Select an image file and click Open
- File dialog
The selected image appears as the background of the report page
Step 6: Adjust the Transparency slider
- Page background section
The background image becomes more or less visible behind the report visuals
Step 7: Optionally, change the Image fit setting
- Page background section
The image fits the page as Fit, Fill, or Center based on your choice

Common Mistakes
Setting the background image transparency to 0% making the image too dark and hiding visuals
The image covers the data visuals completely, making them hard to see
Increase transparency to around 50% so the image is visible but does not block the data
Uploading a very large image file without resizing
The report performance slows down and loading times increase
Resize or compress images before uploading to keep file size small
Using a busy or high-contrast image as background
It distracts from the data and reduces readability
Choose subtle, low-contrast images or use transparency to soften the background
