First Power BI report - Step-by-Step Guide

Introduction
This feature helps you create your very first report in Power BI. It guides you to load data, build visuals, and see your data story come alive on a page.
When you want to show sales numbers by product category on a simple page
When you need to create a report that shows monthly expenses with charts

Steps
Step 1: Click
- Home tab > Get Data button
The Get Data window opens showing data source options
💡 Choose Excel or CSV if you have a file on your computer
Step 2: Select
- Your data source (e.g., Excel workbook) in the Get Data window
A preview of your data tables appears
💡 Pick the table or sheet that has the data you want to use
Step 3: Click
- Load button in the Get Data window
Your data loads into Power BI and appears in the Fields pane
Step 4: Drag
- A field (e.g., Sales Amount) from the Fields pane to the Report canvas
A visual (like a table or chart) appears showing that data
Step 5: Select
- Visualizations pane > Choose a visual type (e.g., Bar chart)
The visual changes to the selected chart type on the canvas
Step 6: Drag
- Other fields (e.g., Product Category) to the Axis or Legend area in Visualizations pane
The chart updates to group data by that field
Step 7: Click
- File tab > Save As
Your report is saved as a Power BI file on your computer
