Dashboard Mode - First Power BI report

Goal

Understand total sales and sales by product category to see which category sells best.

Sample Data

Dashboard Components

• Total Sales KPI Card: Shows total sales amount.
  Formula: Total Sales = SUM('Sales'[Sales Amount])
  Result: 1400
• Sales by Product Category Bar Chart: Displays sales amount for each product category.
  Data:
  • Books: 450
  • Electronics: 700
  • Clothing: 250
• Sales Data Table: Shows raw sales data with Order ID, Product Category, and Sales Amount.

Interactivity

A slicer filter on Product Category lets you select one or more categories.

When you select categories, the Total Sales KPI and the Bar Chart update to show sales only for those categories.

The Sales Data Table also filters to show only the selected categories' rows.

Self Check

If you add a filter selecting only Books, which components update and what are their new values?

• Total Sales KPI Card: Updates to 450
• Sales by Product Category Bar Chart: Shows only Books with 450 sales
• Sales Data Table: Shows only rows with Product Category = Books
