👤 Your Role: You are a sales analyst at a retail company.

📋 Request: Your manager wants a sales report that shows total sales by product category, but only for the current year and for regions in the East.

📊 Data: You have sales data including Date, Region, Product Category, and Sales Amount.

🎯 Deliverable: Create a Power BI report with a bar chart showing total sales by product category, filtered to show only sales from the current year and the East region.

Step 1: Load the sales data into Power BI and create a bar chart visual.

Use 'Product Category' for Axis and 'Sales Amount' for Values with aggregation SUM.

Expected Result

Bar chart shows total sales by product category for all data.

Step 2: Add a visual-level filter on the 'Region' field to include only 'East'.

In the Filters pane, drag 'Region' to Visual level filters and select only 'East'.

Expected Result

Bar chart updates to show sales only for the East region.

Step 3: Add a visual-level filter on the 'Date' field to include only dates from the current year (2024).

In the Filters pane, drag 'Date' to Visual level filters, choose 'Advanced filtering', set condition 'is on or after' 2024-01-01 and 'is on or before' 2024-12-31.

Expected Result

Bar chart updates to show sales only for the East region in 2024.

Step 4: Verify the total sales values by product category in the filtered bar chart.

Sum sales for East region and 2024 by product category: Electronics=1200+1300=2500, Furniture=1500, Clothing=900.

Expected Result

Bar chart shows Electronics: 2500, Furniture: 1500, Clothing: 900.
