Introduction

The Key influencers visual helps you find what factors affect a number or category in your data. It shows which things have the biggest impact on your chosen result, making it easier to understand patterns and drivers.

When you want to know what affects sales going up or down in a region

When you need to find reasons why customers choose one product over another

When you want to explore what influences employee satisfaction scores

When you want to see which factors lead to higher website visits

When you want to explain why some stores perform better than others

Steps

Step 1: Click

- Visualizations pane

The Key influencers visual icon is highlighted and a blank visual appears on the report canvas

💡 Look for the icon that looks like a magnifying glass with bars

Step 2: Drag the field you want to explain into the Analyze box

- Fields pane to Analyze box in the Key influencers visual

The visual prepares to analyze the chosen result field

Step 3: Drag one or more fields that might influence the result into the Explain by box

The visual starts calculating which factors influence the result

Step 4: Wait a few seconds for the visual to show the top influencers

You see a list of key factors ranked by how much they influence the result

Common Mistakes

Not adding any fields to the Explain by box

Without fields to explain by, the visual has no factors to analyze

Add relevant fields that might influence the result, like Region, Product, or Date
