Business Question

How can we see sales totals for the year-to-date, quarter-to-date, and month-to-date to understand recent sales trends?

Dashboard Components

• KPI Card: Total Sales Year-to-Date (YTD)
  Formula:
  Total Sales YTD = TOTALYTD(SUM(Sales[Sales]), Sales[Date])
  Result: 1750 (sum of all sales from 2024-01-01 to 2024-05-20)
• KPI Card: Total Sales Quarter-to-Date (QTD)
  Formula:
  Total Sales QTD = TOTALQTD(SUM(Sales[Sales]), Sales[Date])
  Result: 1300 (sum of sales in Q2 2024: 300 + 250 + 400 + 350)
• KPI Card: Total Sales Month-to-Date (MTD)
  Formula:
  Total Sales MTD = TOTALMTD(SUM(Sales[Sales]), Sales[Date])
  Result: 750 (sum of sales in May 2024: 400 + 350)
• Line Chart: Sales Over Time
  X-axis: Sales[Date]
  Y-axis: SUM(Sales[Sales])
  Shows sales trend by date

Interactivity

The dashboard includes a date slicer filter. When you select a date range, all KPI cards and the line chart update to show sales totals and trends only within the selected dates. This helps focus on specific periods.
