Introduction
Protected sheets and ranges let you lock parts of your Google Sheets so others cannot change them. This helps keep important data safe and prevents accidental edits.

Steps
Step 1: Select
- the cells or range you want to protect
The selected cells are highlighted

Step 2: Right-click

- "Protect range" in the context menu
The Protect sheets and ranges pane opens on the right
Step 4: Type
- "Description" box in the pane
You add a name or note for this protected range

Step 5: Click
- "Set permissions" button in the pane
A permissions dialog opens
Step 6: Choose
- who can edit the range (e.g., only you or specific people)
Only selected users can change the protected cells

- "Done" button
The range is now protected and others cannot edit it unless allowed
