Co-authoring in real time lets multiple people work on the same Excel file at the same time. This helps teams collaborate without sending files back and forth or waiting for others to finish.
When your team needs to update a budget spreadsheet together during a meeting
When multiple people are entering data into a shared sales report
When you want to review and edit a project plan with your colleagues simultaneously
When you need instant feedback on a financial model from your manager
When working remotely and everyone must see changes as they happen

Common Mistakes
Saving the file only on your computer and not to OneDrive or SharePoint
Others cannot access or edit the file in real time
Always save the file to OneDrive or SharePoint to enable co-authoring
Setting sharing permission to 'Can view' instead of 'Can edit'
Collaborators can only see the file but cannot make changes
Set permission to 'Can edit' to allow real-time collaboration
Turning off AutoSave
Changes are not saved automatically, causing delays in updates for others
Keep AutoSave on to ensure all edits are saved and visible instantly
