Dashboard Mode - ABS and MOD
Dashboard Goal

This dashboard helps you understand how to use the ABS and MOD functions in Excel to analyze numbers. You will see how to get absolute values and find remainders from division, which are useful in many real-life situations like calculating distances or checking if a number is even or odd.

Sample Data
NumberDescription
-15Negative number
22Positive number
-7Negative number
0Zero
13Positive number
-4Negative number
8Positive number
Dashboard Components
  • KPI Card: Absolute Values
Formula: =ABS(A2) copied down for all numbers.
Shows the positive distance of each number from zero.
    Example: ABS(-15) = 15
  • KPI Card: Remainder When Divided by 3
    Formula: =MOD(A2, 3) copied down.
Shows the remainder after dividing each number by 3.
    Example: MOD(22, 3) = 1
  • Table: Combined Results
    Columns: Number, ABS(Number), MOD(Number, 3)
    Formulas:
    ABS in B2: =ABS(A2)
    MOD in C2: =MOD(A2, 3)
    Copy down for all rows.

Interactivity

You can filter the numbers to see ABS and MOD results for only positive or negative numbers. When you apply a filter on the Number column, both the Absolute Values and MOD remainder results update automatically to show only the filtered data.

Self Check

Add a filter to show only numbers greater than 0. Which ABS and MOD results remain visible? What are their values?
